Amber and Charlie at it again!

The last home Sunday league game of the season saw the Under 11s take on Backwell. The team were in good spirits and the weather was perfect for cricket. With the Plate final only 7 days away this was a good opportunity to get out in the middle and put in a confidence boosting performance and maintain that winning momentum.
Dan won the toss and chose to bat with the aim of posting an unreachable target. Several of the home batsmen were teeing off (more suited to Long Ashton golf course) when more conventional cricket shots were the order of the day against some indifferent bowling. There we however some lovely shots throughout the innings and including Olly and George showing off their power, finding the boundaries. The home side making 294/5 confident this would be enough.
The task now was not to become complacent in the field, get the basics right and stay in control of the game. The sibling rivalry on the field shone through as Amber and Charlie were involved in everything that was good about the fielding. Both amongst the wickets including Amber taking a caught and bowled and Charlie taking three catches at cover point and throwing in for a run out. David taking the throw cleanly and taking the bails just in time. A neat and tidy performance behind the stumps from David also contributing to the victory. A late flurry of runs from the away side was never enough to effect the result and Bedminster ran out comfortable winners by 64 runs.
With one game remaining against winless Churchill the Under 11s will aim to complete a whole North Somerset Youth Cricket season unbeaten.
For now though, all eyes are on the Plate final next week.
