The Under 11s hosted Uphill Castle in the Sunday sunshine at the Clanage in the North Somerset League seeking revenge for the defeat in the last game of last season. They took encouragement from their fielding performance during the week and limited the opposition to very few scoring shots. Harry Bryan and Olly Sully the pick of the bowlers with accuracy and at times some decent pace even rattling the helmet of the batsman on one occasion. Uphill Castle finished their innings on 245, losing only 3 wickets along the way.
Olly and Charlie Carter opened the innings giving Bedminster a great base from which to build hitting boundaries and taking singles where possible. The middle order made slow progress towards the total and although losing a few wickets, remained in charge with left hander Jake Sheppard scoring well. When last pair Dan Sledge and Billy Phillips came to the crease knowing Uphill required four wickets to have any chance of victory, they calmly played out the overs to see them home. The Under 11s remain unbeaten although lessons need to be learned as tougher tests are still to come this season.
