Bristol U'15s beat Bedminster by 9 wickets, after Bedminster scored 117-5 from their allotment of 20 overs in the BYCL.

A strong Bristol side proved too much for Bedminster in damp conditions, as the hosts prevailed by 9 wickets with over 5 overs to spare.

This was a disappointing performance for Bedminster Under 15's, who lost the toss and were put into bat on a very green wicket. Faced with difficult batting conditions, Harry Drissell (32) batted well at the top of the order, hitting some noteworthy shots including a cover drive for four as well as hooking the opening bowler over square leg for a maximum. Along with Drissell, skipper Joe Millard (27) was the only other Bedminster batsmen to get themselves in, however unfortunately neither man was able to play the telling knock required to post a really competitive score on a ground with small boundaries. Bedminster's score of 117, felt a little short of par at the half way stage. As would later be revealed in Bristol's innings, the green pitch was a red herring and the short boundaries made a bigger impact on the game.

There was persistent drizzle during Bristol's reply making conditions very difficult for bowlers. Bristol's batsmen ran excellently between the wickets, essential playing hit and run and putting extreme pressure on Bedminster's fielders. Moreover, they effectively targeted the short boundaries and punished the slightest error in line or length from the bowlers to keep up with the asking rate. Bailey Peacock, again bowled an excellent opening burst and was unlucky that when he found the opening batsmen's edge it evaded the fielders on its way to third man for a single. Joe Millard bowled with heart to finish with 1 wicket for 27 in an otherwise wicketless innings, as Bristol reached their target in the 15th over.

Despite this disappointing league result, it is evident that this team has too many good cricketers to not bounce back and challenge for trophy's in the North Somerset cup, the Nat cup and the Knockout cup.

The under 15's next scheduled fixture is the Semi Final of the North Somerset Cup, away to Congresbury on the 22nd of May, which will be a great opportunity for them to get back to winning ways.
