Bedminster Under 15's beat Bristol YMCA B by 45 runs in the BYCL Natwest Under 15 Cup.

In their toughest challenge of the season so far, away to Bristol YMCA B, Bedminster bowled out the hosts for 65 after having posted 110-7.

In a match much closer than scoreline suggests, Bedminster's batsmen were put under pressure by accurate bowling from YMCA and were only able to score 24 runs from the innings first 8 overs.Bedminster then recovered from this sedate start to go at over 7 an over for the remainder of their 20 overs to reach a competitive total of 110 and justify their decision to bat upon winning the toss. Lewis Shean (32) was again Bedminster's stand out batsmen, playing with patience and determination to get his side a score on a pitch on the slow side and with inconsistent bounce. The hard working nature of Shean's innings was epitomised by the fact that it included an all run 5. Shean was ably supported by a characteristically energetic 16 from Will Harvey.

With 110 to defend, Bedminster's bowlers performed admirably to bowl out the hosts for 65. It was an excellent bowling and fielding performance with contributions all round. Bailey Peacock set the tone of the innings as he bowled a wicket maiden first over, during an impressive opening spell (3-1-1-9) in which he bowled with pace and hostility. He was partnered well by Shazil Butt (4-1-1-12) who bowled with consistency and accuracy to put pressure on YMCA's batsmen. Alfie Derrick, Zulkarnain Butt, Sam Shopland and Harry Drissell continued the opening bowlers good work as they all took a wicket a piece before leg spinner George Harris proceeded to finish the game off with 2-5.

Mark Millard, despite being a parent, was awarded man of the match for getting his son Joe to the match late.

The under 15's will look to continue their unbeaten run Friday evening against Bristol CC in the BYCL.
