Bedminster Under 15's start the season in style

A strong Bedminster side completed a convincing 97 run win away to an inexperienced Cheddar in their first match of the North Somerset Under 15's Cup.

After having won the toss and elected to bat, Bedminster racked up 118 for 2 in their allotted 16 overs, with Bailey Peacock (45) and Harry Drissell (17) sharing a 74 run opening stand. Peacock punished the bowlers when they strayed with their length, dispatching anything short to the leg side and driving powerfully over the top when Cheddar's bowlers readjusted to a fuller length. When the partnership was finally broken, Alfie Lewis (20 not out) calmly guided Bedminster to a very competitive total.

In reply, Cheddar batted bravely in the face of hostile and accurate bowling to bat through their 16 overs and reach 21-8. The pick of the Bedminster bowlers were Alfie Derrick (3 wickets for 4 runs), whose opening burst dismantled Cheddar's top order, and captain Joe Millard who took 3 wickets for 2 runs, including two in two balls to close the game out. The other wicket takers were Shazil Butt and Alfie Lewis with one wicket a piece to complete a commanding Bedminster bowling performance.

Alfie Lewis was named Man of the Match for an excellent all round display on his Bedminster debut.

The Under 15's will now progress to the quarter finals of the North Somerset Cup. Before that they will take on take on Bristol YMCA in the Bristol Youth League Knockout Cup on Thursday 4th of May.
