Peacock top scores with 81

Bedminster CC arrived at Page Park to face an experienced team from Hambrook in very hot conditions. The Bedminster XI sporting 4 changes since selection on Thursday morning, were put in a better mood when Hambrook won the toss and decided to bowl! Having posted 200 on several occasions this season, Bedminster were hoping for a long hot afternoon in the field for the home team.

Stewart Mason and Dave Peacock continued their opening partnership and got Bedminster off to a flyer. Putting on a opening partnership of 81, with Stewart making a good 36 off of 46 balls. Regan Burton joined Dave at the crease, but found the going tough before being bowled for 1 by Denika Dyer. This brought the inform captain Chris Giles to the crease, where he and Dave continues their good form to record 108 runs in their
partnership.

Dave volunteering to move the pace on after 32 overs, then produced 2 dots and a single. It was left to Captain Giles to score 18 off the over. Dave Peacock was stumped for an impressive 81, bringing a reluctant Nick Chapman; with new glasses to the middle. Giles continued hitting the ball to all parts before advancing down the wicket and being bowled.

Matt Lee quickly returned after a big 4, before Frank Pope and Nick Chapman took the score to 246 off the 40 overs for 5 wickets.

With the sun still beating down after teas, Bedminster opened the bowling with Freddie Edwards and Joe Mogg. Freddie bounding in, with little effect from the heat, Moggy looking like he just completed in an Iron Man event for 3 days straight!

Neither could produce the break through until first change bowler Olly Southwell bowled a lean spell resulting in an attacking shot by the opening batsman which was caught at short mid off by Chris Giles.

This brought a mini collapse to the Hambrook middle order with Richard Harris bowling a good tight spell, producing good bounce and pace to take 2 wickets.

The score going from 55-0 to 69-4, Hambrook rallied and managed to limp to 202 for 6 wickets off their 40.

Good bowing spells from Giles (8-0-37-0) built pressure and Freddie Edwards who went for 7-0-35-0. However, it was Richard Harris (8-0-33-3) and Olly Southwell (8-2-26-3) who did the damage. Another good team performance and convincing win.
