Despite a loss in the first game the positive far outweighed the negatives for the CXI in a plucky match against Barrow Gurney.
Having lost the toss and being out into bat, Bedminster set an target of 224, with 101 from captain Chris Giles and a 58 from David Peacock helping a good batting performance. Young players Freddie Edwards and Regan Burton looked comfortable at the crease to record 14 and 7 respectively. To cap off the performance Matt Lee scored a massive 6!
Barrow Gurney set about the chase is a cautious manor playing their shots when allowed, but tight bowling fro Zulk Butt (8-1-28-0) and Alfie Derrick (7-0-32-2) slowed their progress. However, a couple of wickets later and Barrow Gurney had an experience Roger Finnimore at the crease who set about chasing the total with 2 overs to spare and finishing on 90 not out.
Barrow Gurney showed experience and paced the innings well, well Bedminster showed lots of promise for the season and if we can keep a settled side then we will do ourselves no harm.
Good match all round.
