Match Report by Harry Pleass
Skipper HP won the toss and decided to bowl first on an uncovered green top which looked tricky for batting from the start.
After a few too many ciders the night before Jon jones had seemingly forgotten how to use his satnav and Bedminster started one man down in the field. Shellers and Bailey both picked up wickets in the first 10 overs and were economical as ever.
Spinners Filer, Calum and Shaz all also bowled well and kept the pressure firmly on the PR Royals. Jack picked up 4 and Shaz almost took a hat trick with some very good spin bowling. What was disappointing however, was the 5 dropped catches in the field and the team will regret the plethora of missed chances.
Despite the slightly lacklustre fielding performances Bedminster did bowl the opposition out for 100 which was a solid effort and a seemingly low total...
Ben and Jon jones started the reply well against the opening bowlers. The umpire (Harry Pleass) however clearly felt the Welshman hadn't paid the price for his tardiness earlier and gave him lbw for ten.
Shorney looked dismissive as ever and batting with Naz and together they looked in control of the chase.
The fourth change bowler really shifted the momentum of the game bowling fast and short managing to bounce out three batsmen in quick succession. By this point the pressure was on and despite a valiant effort from the youth batting Bedminster were eventually bowled all out leaving shellers shellshocked their other end.
No lipstick awarded this week due to the sheer number lipstick moments!
A tough week for the thirds but the test will be how the bounce back to Patchway next week.
