All round team performance puts Bedminster 3rd XI top of the league, after having beaten Pak Bristolians by 5 wickets at whitehall playing fields.

Naz Kadir's calculated innings guided Bedminster 3rd XI's chase of 188 to beat Pak Bristolians 2nd XI by 5 wickets.

After a disappointing loss to Winterbourne last week, the A XI headed to Pak Bristolians to try and take top spot of the league. Bedminster knew this was a good opportunity to push their title challenge.

Bedminster lost the toss and the home team decided to bat first. Bailey struck early with a snick behind giving Lewis Shean his first catch of the 2017 season. Shellers was metronomical as ever, with four maidens and he was unlucky to not get a wicket.

The second partnership were looking obdurate and Bedminster needed to get a breakthrough. Jack Filer came on and took the key wicket. Along with Shaz the two spinners bowled well in the middle overs picking up wickets and with the help of some good fielding tightened the pressure on the home side.

Second team exile John Brain came back on at the end and with Bailey dismantled the already flagging tail. Ben Cunliffe wearing his dads XL jumper tucked into his trousers surprised the number 11 with his gun arm and ran out the final wicket.

Bedminster were set 188 and with Simon in the twos and Jon Jones on festival duty it was left to Pav and Ben to begin the innings.

They started well and saw off the new ball carefully (some spectators were slightly bored however). Sajid Ibrahim was the first bowling change and hot off his 8 wickets in the previous game seemed like he could be the danger bowler. Pav went for him from the off and smashed him for 15 in his first over. The opening pair put on a total of 83 before the first wicket fell

Prodigious talent Shorney returned with a quick fire 29 and helped up the rate. With the score at 131 superstar in the making Naz came in to steady the ship and showed his talent with the bat.

The skipper came in and trying to win the game quickly played a horrible slog and got bowled cheap leaving it up to the youth to take the team home.

With tensions rising Bedminster knew it was getting tight and Filer came in and batted sensibly with Naz running well and making the most of any loose deliveries. Naz hit the winning runs in emphatic style and Bedminster are now sitting number one in the league with 97 points.

Lipstick awarded to Harry for getting bowled playing a stupid slog shot.

Credit to Rich Filer for scoring and Andy Sheldrake for umpiring during a tense and emotionally charged game.

Onwards to Bath next weekend at the clanage.
