RUN MACHINES J SHEAN & GREEK’S 320 RUN RECORD PARTNERSHIP DESTROY HAMPSETS PROMOTION HOPES

On a boiling hot day at the clanage Bedminster faced last seasons enemies Hampset on a pitch that was bound to deliver a high scoring match. After winning the toss AGAIN (with Adis Magic minions coin) Tryfonos unsurprisingly chose to bat first.

Tryfonos (in village blue running trainers) and Hughes walked to the crease and immediately runs began to flow off Hughes’ bat, while Greek bassled his way through the openers as usual. Hughes then fell to the medium paced opener as he was trapped LBW for a quickfire 26. The in form Shean then joined Tryfonos, while Greek continued to imitate Boycott, however Shean destroyed the Hampset bowling attack, their moral and several fingers along the way. Despite being at the crease for a substantially shorter time than Greek, Shean reached his century in style, later followed by Tryfonos who seemed focussed on red letters rather than records never the less the two reached a partnership of 315 (a league & club record) until Shean grew tired of carrying Greek and fell for 153 from just 106 balls. McCormack joined Greek with few overs to go, both looking to improve their average and gain the important red letters and although Greek had the opportunity in the last over to repair the embarrassment of having the Tryfonos family highest score record broken & bettered by his younger son earlier in the week, he was faced with the dilemma of sacrificing red letters so after smashing three boundaries to get to the landmark 150 his bottle went & he nudged one into square leg for one much to the dismay of World Cup winner Ian Harvey who was wathching in disbelief from the pitch next door. After the 45 overs Greek remained not out and Bedminster seemed set for another victory after amassing a giant 373.

Hampset got off to a flying start with their ‘big’ hitter demolishing Drissell in his one over spell (up the hill), however his immediate return into the action at his favourite “down the hill” end meant he claimed the first wicket with an unplayable delivery from down the hill albeit whinging and mowing about his baddie knee (yawn). Once the runs had been dried up by Drissel & the in form House, 1s reject Mason came back on to dismiss the danger man Hill and Hampset’s last hope was on his way back to the showers. Unfortunately this meant the game began to die out and with both teams looking to claim maximum batting and bowling points the battle truly began. Bedminster came close to gaining full points with Drissell claiming his second wicket & Omar “ Waquar Younis” Rhandawa taking three wickets with an mixed bag if tricks and some helpful field settings. Finally the trademark Filer half tracker (renamed the 70% ball) took Hampsets 7th wicket allowing Hampset the honour of being the only side not all out this season verses Bemmis Gun bowling attack.

In 2 Words HAMPSET BATTERED.

After another convincing victory Bedminster remained clear promotion favourites and top of Division 2 on their return to the league, putting to bed the demons from two seasons ago. Overall great performances from Shean and Tryfonos (as I’m sure he’s told you in his ball by ball account) meant victory was inevitable and the usual stability of the bowling attack meant Bedminster added to their long lasting victory streak.
