Frampton bowlers smell the blood of Roache, Cunliffe & Shean

On a beautiful day for cricket no one could have predicted what would happen next.
Greek got off to the perfect start after rocking up late and losing the toss. (Although he denied this as usual). Frampton decided to bat first and straight away it was clear why. The opening batsmen came flying out of the pavilion determined to make the most of the road that had been prepared for the game. Waqar got the break through in his second over, the batsmen seemed shocked that he missed a straight one after looking so comfortable against the gentle pace. Drissell then got in on the act setting the other opener up with a series of overs bowling outside off, he then bowled one at leg stump while the batsman headed off to point in an attempt to get to where he assumed the ball was going. Three and four decided the best strategy was to see off the opening bowlers and go after the first change bowlers,( a wise plan). Mason came into the attack for Drissell and straight away got two edges taken by Shean behind the stumps who was as usual making things look difficult. Ed the No1 Duckworth replaced Waqar, keeping Macca interested in the slips by bowling one straight to him and then getting a couple of wickets with absolute filth, splitting a bail in half in the process.

Framptons number 5 looked comfortable and after being reminded of not scoring off 8 full tosses he was determined to make the next one count...so he chipped it to Waqar at mid off. He was obviously pleased with his performance as he slung his gloves, helmet and bat off the pitch in true village style (all of which travelled further than the ball he had just hit). A fantastic catch at second slip from Drissell off Mason resulted in another wicket and the offer of sexual assault in the shower following the game, (Harry opting to take the 50p fine for not showering.) With Kelly getting the nod for the next over Mason decided to finally get the number eleven out ending with four wickets and Frampten all out for 62 with several batsmen top scoring with 7.

In reply Basil Roche got off to a flier smashing the ball to all corners of the outfield scoring 12 of 200 balls then Cunliffe got to 12 and felt set, so he decided to try and make things interesting by chipping a half volley to short extra cover. Frampton smelt blood and now with six slips, three gullies and four leg slips the pressure was really on Roche and Shean to try and get the remaining runs. Fortunately for BCC they managed to see off the aggressive bodyline spell of bowing and edged past the winning total with just 30 overs to spare. Roche finishing with 12 not out and Shean 30 not out, keeping BCC top of the table. Roll on next week for a slightly easier game against the team third in the table.
