Bemmi Boys Put In Top Performance As Giles Hunts For A Spot In The 2s

Under strict instructions and time restraints the team arrived at Cleeve cc ready to take one step closer to promotion. The teams morale was boosted due to the return of the self proclaimed 'star cricketer,' Mason who had been busy gallivanting around Globe trotting the land of the moose in search for fresh meat.

In good spirits the team left the car park to find they had been poorly advised by the ill prepared captain as we had arrived 15 minutes before the opponents had even shown up.

From the first over the Bedminster pairing of Duckworth and Mason placed extreme pressure upon the Cleeve openers.

Despite Masons economical top quality opening spell, Duckworth claimed the wickets of 3 of Cleeve's top order.

After Greeks controversial decision to bring Mason out of the attack, he was replaced effectively by the gentle medium pace of Mawer. Despite his abysmal opening over, bowling copious amounts of wides, Greeks beloved brother in law was once again thrown the ball, using up a few more looseners along the way Mawer was now fully in his stride and he held a nagging and consistent line and length resulting in him claiming a further three wickets including the scalp if the overseas pro who got the Mawer send off (although it was widely accepted that the lad only looked 12 and that mawer had previous for abusing 12 year olds on the cricket pitch.)

Cleeve's star batsman now occupied the crease, and knocked up a quickfire 50 in 20 balls dispatching M. Tryfanos for 20 runs in a single over and milking the bowling of Kadir at a heavy a rate of knots.
Newman then brought in to the attack (who in his opinion had been burdened by the weight of the team on his back all season) immediately through down his usual supply of filth resulting as if by black magic in a wicket with his usual low full toss wicket delivery, deceiving the batsman and leaving a an extremely hard catch that was made to look simple by Mason's gun fielding.

After this key wicket Cleeve showed little resistance as Newman took another, and the Captains disgraced son took a further 2 of the tail in s. Lear and obvious display of favouritism from his Daddy who had kept him on to mop up & repair his earlier very poor figures.

The Bedminster 2nd XI clearly demonstrating why they were so near to promotion at this early stage in the season having dismissed their fellow promotion hopefuls for 136.

After a slightly extended tea brake & while the Cleeve players refusing to remove the covers, (at the disgust of A. Tryfonos), the second inning finally began.

The Tryfonos pairing opened, and after their long period of batting the pairing had bored the crowd along with the majority of the fielders to death. However one fielder remained alert all innings as constant cries of 'tuna' and 'cripple' were directed towards the younger of the Tryfonos pairing, once the nauseating individual had been formally cautioned the game continued although this abuse had clearly broken the captains concentration as he played a whimsical slap straight down mid-off's throat at 90-1 allowing Rothero who had been tending to a continual nose bleed batting at 3 to come to the crease. Rothero looked calm and collective during his innings while the selfish Tryfonos junior continued to bat for red letters at the non strikers end. Rothero did struggle facing 50mph bouncers That nearly pinned him twice but started to dispatch the poor 6th change bowling at last ending the game and leaving Bedminster victorious.
Tryfonos finished with an average booster of 44 no and Rothero in his typical 20's.

At no point did the 2nd team look like loosing as their dominance and superiority in the league continued. This victory which was made sweeter by the cancelling of Hampset's match with Lodway leaving Bedminster with breathing space at the top of the table.

Now needing potentially only one win for promotion Bedminster look set to face last season's demons and gain promotion to div 2 of the B & D ( surely.......)
