Pineapple Strikes Again...

Bowling 1st, Bedminster were boosted by the return of James Duckworth and John House from the 1st team who both opened the bowling hitting decent areas on a helpful deck, but it was Duckworth who should have made the breakthrough early on, having two very simple catches dropped in the slips by V Patel who quickly demoted himself to a shady tree at 3rd man before swan diving over another one a few balls later, the self proclaimed "Indian Jonty"refused to comment but became extremely animated at fines where the toys came out of the pram as usual.

Duckworth also did his best to exile himself from the fast bowlers club when berating poor student House, for not attacking a ball down at 3rd man, but 6 ft 5 House had a few choice words himself after an extremely animated Duckworth tried to kill gun fielder C. Mccormack with a needless shy at the stumps from close range requiring young Mcormack to make an heroic stop backing up and saving a certain boundary at a heavy cost to his thumb and potentially House figures (poor Maccers).

Although Duckworth & House kept things extremely tight it was again U16 L.Mason who came to the party with a breathtaking display of bowling taking out the top order for a second week running, returning figures of 7 overs 4-24 and again carrying H Newman on his back who started poorly but came back well taking 2-34 including the scalp of Glos u17 player E Wilson with a ball that pitched half way down and shot along the floor (poor lad).
This set things up nicely for spinners Tryfonos and Barnes who returned figures of 2-12 from 4 overs and 1- 5 from 1 respectively, cleaning up the tail efficiently and securing valuable dream team points along the way.

From finishing with the ball to opening the Batting Tryfonos and Barnes chasing 121 to win put on 25 runs on a shocking deck before Ed Wilson nicked off Barnes who had already been dropped twice trying to hit over the top (clearly had an appointment with his beard waxer).

Then came 1st team superstar Mcormack to the crease who had refused a breathalyser in the warm ups and insisted he was fit to bat 3 before smashing his first delivery nonchalantly to the boundary then surviving a close shout for caught behind, before finally nicking off to one that did absolutely nothing & refusing to walk.
Once mccormack had been dragged off the pitch, young Reece John came to bat who was keen to prove himself after last weeks shaky start, however his will to face Wilson who was moving it square at pace was non existent turning down clear and obvious singles and asking Tryfonos to face 90% of Wilsons balls claiming he didn't want to get out this week in front of his girlfriend and no1 fan Kirsty or his Dad Dave who had made the trip to LA to watch him perform, so Tryfonos set about a defensive masterclass that Boycott would have been proud of, seeing off an "on fire" Wilson whilst Johns made hay at the other end working his way to a well deserved 51 not out,
Tryfonos who also remained not out on 35 put the win down to some fantastic bowling by the opening pair Duckworth & House & a vicious display from Mason who was pretty much unplayable, (well done pineapple).

P.S Thanks for coming Tommy ???
