George Drissell (97) was denied his ton by a brace of caught and bowled by Vibhor Yadav in another thriller at the Clanage.

After winning the toss and eventually finishing the ground duties Bedminsters skipper James Carter took to the field, all be it an over late, to join his team.

Sam Knapp returning from work duties (8-2-18-2) bowled well and claimed the wickets of Romano Esau (11) and Charley Reed (4) caught by Rob Cunliffe and Tom Smith respectively. Corsham captain Ashur Morrison joined opener Gabriel Field and steadied the ship until the later was bowled by Smith for 31 an over before drinks with the score on 79. Sam Collier joined his skipper and the 65 run partnership gave Corsham a platform on which to build until Morrison (51) was bowled by Drissell after completing his half century. Richard Sillars (10-0-78-5) picked up five more Corsham wickets at regular intervals, but at a price, including twenty from the last over, giving Corsham maximum batting points reaching a competitive target of 228-9.

A tactical change in Bedminsters batting line up looked to have back fired as Max Tryfonos left his first delivery only for it to clatter into the stumps and leave Bedminster nought for one. Smith joined Drissell who and the pair put on 44 before Smith chipped one to Morrison at midwicket, but having been dropped surprisingly carried on running and was comfortably ran out for 15. Drissell brought up his 50 (off 80 balls) as he patiently rebuilt the innings with Sai Kumani, who seemed to like his new number four slot hitting 32, until Kamuni was adjuded to have nicked one to keeper Field off Luke Curtis. Bedminster were matching Corsham and importatly did not loose wickets, as they had in prior weeks, until ten overs later when Elphick (19) was bowled by James Arney with the score on 151 in the 40th over. Sillars rapid 15 (from 7 balls) swang the game Bedminsters way, as the rain started to fall, before Arney got his second victim as Sillars was caught by Joseph King.

With 26 needed from the last 3 overs Vibhor Yadav had a brace of caught and bowled in consecutive balls first Drissell fell for 97 (136 balls) and then Cunliffe for 17 leaving the game in the balance. Yadav could not keep him self out of the action as he parried one on the boundary, which after lengthy discussions between the umpires was given as a four, instead of a maximum, just like what happened in the Corsham innings. Tom Pugsley again misjudged his speed as he was ran out by Arney returning for a second.

George Stephenson (13 not out) was continuing from his mid week innings hitting some lusty blows, but crucially was not on strike as Bedminster needed 12 to win from the last over. A dot was followed by a six from Knapp, but then Yadav replied brilliantly, trapping him LBW. Captain Carter tried to get Stephenson back on strike, and ran one through to the side of the keeper who threw the ball to Yadav, who was half way down with his follow through, but he calmly threw the stumps down to leave Bedminster and the home support distraught as they were dismissed for 223 with two balls to go.

Next week Bedminster travel to top of the table Bath, who have strengthened their side following their win of the WEPL Prem 1 last season.
