It was like an action replay of the previous weekend as Bedminster loss the toss, were asked to bat and the top four removed cheaply this time for only 20 runs. It was Richard Sillars who came to the rescue with Rob Cunliffe(10), before the later, despite a massive stride down the track, was adjudged LBW off Andrew Brewster leaving Bedminster 68-5 in the 20th over. Sillars (56 off 66) reached his second half century in successive weeks before he too was trapped in front by the spin of Edward Young (10-4-16-4) who went on to remove the tail. It was only sensible 31 run last wicket partnership by Tom Pugsley (16 not out off 52 balls) and Sam Knapp who used up more off their allocated overs this week to take Bedminster to 142 before Knapp (12) nicked one to keeper Tom Cullen. Credit must be given to the last pair who despite the low score show the spirit of cricket and sportingly stopped running when they realised the Potterne skipper Neil Clark had injured his shoulder after an awkward fall.
Potterne proved why they are showing early signs they could be title contenders this season as they raced to 42 in 8 overs until Cullen (21) was dismissed by a diving leg side take by Garreth Elphick off Sillars. De Souza (17), Wijerathne (10) and Odedra (4) were all removed the same way with catches by George Drissell at backward point off George Russell (7-1-30-3), who continues to impress after joining this season, offered Bedminster a glimmer of hope as Potterne reached 71-4. Young took control back for Potterne, this time with the bat, as he reached his 50 before Basil Akram (26) who the previous week left his partner on 49, again finished the game in style hit a six.
After this weeks round of games Potterne remain in pole position with Bedminster rooted to the bottom of WEPL Prem 1. Next week Bedminster travel to Downend who have a are in a mid table position.
