Running a youth team as a volunteer involves a lot of work. Most of our coaches are parents who enjoy the coaching side of the game, improving our players and hopefully helping the team win some games.
However, often they find their time to coach on match days reduced significantly as the need for them to undertake scoring & umpiring duties or setting up the pitch/match takes them away from coaching.
Could you help? We are looking for parents who wish to learn to score (manually or electronically - iPad, etc) or who wish to umpire. We will run a session on each, assuming we have the demand, so you will be able to help out on match days and allow our coaches to coach.
If you're interested in getting involved then please drop me an email and we will arrange a date in the next couple of weeks to teach you how to score or umpire.
Of course, if you don't think this is for you, perhaps helping put flags out, set stumps up and sight screens out or putting these away after will all help the coach have more time for coaching. All parents can get involved - so what's stopping you?
