After losing the toss on a dodgy deck, openers Tryfonos and Roche failed to impress with the bat, Tryfonos extremely unlucky getting an absolute Jaffa swinging in, pitching leg and seeming to hit the top of off, whilst Roche missed a straight one. McCormac and Patel settled things for a while before failing to make decent starts pay off. Both Belcher an Rothero were soon to follow playing some horrendous hoyks across the line befor being caught on the leg side (what a surprise). This brought Knapp and Mason to the crease at 60-6.
Superstar Knapp batting at 8, lead the way with an unbeaten 54 while Mason then Newman rode there luck in supporting Knapp with some quite unorthodox stroke play.
Both played particularly daft shots to get out under the circumstances, especially as Knapp was sending balls over the 100ft safety nets for fun.
House followed for a duck and then Duckworth for 1 run run which was more than his wicket tally for the season.
Bedminster finished on 186 all out after 40.3 overs.
With the form of the bowlers and Superknapp in the side Bedminster started well taking 2 wickets for 0 but this only brought Williams and Hill together who started putting the ball to all parts. All 5 seamers had a go at getting the pair out but some shocking fielding and some horrendous keeping from Belcher who even offered the gloves to twenty something Rothero at one point allowed both men to reach 50. Eventually Mason got Hill for 53 with his trade mark slower ball as H "H Factor" Newman was fetching his own version of off spin bowling back out of the Garden next door, clearly Roache had seen enough as at one point he didn't even get up of his bench at 3rd man for one of Newmans deliveries (for which he was heavily fined by the club). Once they had found a 4th spare ball Newman was given a rest as he had clearly injured his neck following
his own bowling into the trees, which brought a disabled Tryfonos into the attack to the disgust of House who had only taken 1 wicket in 4 games. Hero Tryfonos imidiately took a wicket to give Bedminster a glimmer of hope but Williams and Frank were able to see Hampset home in 35 overs taking advantage of some of the worst fielding the game has ever seen.
Verdict: Bedminster must do better, changes inevitable, Superstar Knapp keeps his 100% record in 2017.
